Prison Church

Servant King Prison
Church

It is the name for the weekly prison church worship services that began to be held by Servant King Ministries when a group of Christian prisoners (the local body of Christ in this prison), banded together for support and accountability. They called and elected Sam Merkle as their pastor and lead elder, then selected three addition elders from within their group. This is unprecedented for prisoners to call and ordain a pastor from the outside and elders from the inside that they can trust to help with spiritual guidance and counsel as they go through lives journey on the inside.

When this happened,

Servant King ministries reorganized
their corporation into Servant King Prison Church,

and have been operating as a local independent Christian church ever since. It took almost 18 years for God to develop them to this point. It is our hope and belief that as our prison church continues to grow, this church template, a concept of support and individual accountability between inmates, will spread throughout the entire prison system. Helping to improve relations between all inmates and staff for a better, more cooperative and peaceful symbiotic atmosphere within the confines of prison life.
